It is important that you take regular simple analgesia once you get home. Panadol and anti-inflammatory with food such as nurofen will help control pain.
Leave the dressing over your wound on for approximately 5 days after you operation. The dressing on your thigh where the skin graft is taken (donor site), is to remain on for 10-14 days, the donor site can smell during this time, it is quite normal for this to happen.
You will need to make both of these appointments to see our Practice Nurse Amanda for removal of these dressings
As instructed by Dr Barbour, keep your leg up as much as possible. Limit your walking as much as possible in the first week after your operation. Gently walking around the house is recommended.
After you get home from hospital, please call Shelly on 3847 7133 to make your appointment to see Dr Barbour in 4 weeks time. Dr Barbour will look at you wound and inform you about your pathology at this time. Your appointments to see Amanda can also be made at this time.
